Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar, has directed Muslims in the country to
start looking for new moon.
He gave the direction on Friday the 23th of December 2022, equivalent to Islamic calendar 29th of JUMADA ULA 1444 after Hijira.
In a statement by the the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto State, Prof. Sambo Junaidu, the Sultan directed the Muslims ummah in the country to start looking for the new crescent of Jumada Assani from Friday, December 23 December, 2022.
The statement added, “Anybody that sighs the new moon should forward the information to the nearest village or district head for onward communication to the Sultan of Sokoto.”
