The police in Bauchi State on Friday said they are hunting for one Ibrahim of Rafin Zurfi, for allegedly plucking out the eyes of a 16-year-old boy.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, in a statement explained that Ibrahim lured the 16-year-old, Uzairu Salisu of Kwanan Gulmanmu, Jahun quarters, to his farm on Thursday on the pretext of giving him farm work.
The police added that Ibrahim forcefully removed Salisu’s two eyes and left him in a pool of blood.
Wakili said the police received a distress call from the Ward Head of Birshi, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, Mohammed Lawa, that Salisu was found in a pool of blood and struggling to stay alive.
Wakili said, “A team of policemen, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Yelwa divison moved to the scene of the crime and took the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi where he is receiving treatment.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Ibrahim, whom he knew for some time, lured him to the bush for a menial job on his farm, where he also used a cable to strangle him.
“The Commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda, has directed policemen to get to the root of the matter while ensuring that the culprit is brought to book.”
