Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi son, Abdulfatai, dies, Makinde mourns

Pince Abdulfatai Adeyemi, son of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is dead.

The late member of the Peoples Democratic Party died at the age of 47.

The prince, popularly known as D-GOV, was said to have died diabetes-related complications at the University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan in the early hours of Friday.

The late prince was the candidate of in the 2019 House of Representatives election in Oyo Federal Constituency.

He lost the election to his brother, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, who was re-elected for a second term under the platform of All Progressive Congress.

Late Abdulfatai was appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde as Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board during Makinde’s first term.

Makinde described the death of the prince as a sad loss.

The governor expressed his condolences in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Friday.

He said, “I received the news of the transition of our brother, Prince Adebayo Adeyemi (De Gov), with shock and sadness.”

“De Gov fought and won many battles with regards to his health, and we all thought the worse was over. But we can only submit to the will of God, who gives and takes life.”

“I commiserate with the immediate family of our dear brother, the Alaafin Royal Family, and the people of Oyo.

“I equally express my condolences to the PDP family in the state and pray to God to grant repose to the soul of the late Prince Adeyemi.”
