  • Scores of worshippers and residents of Suleja, Niger State, on Tuesday, escaped death as trailer ladened with powdered milk rammed into a mosque.

Three persons were trapped in the incident.

The incident occured around 6am, shortly after many worshippers had left the mosque after the morning prayer.

It was gathered that  the trailer fell on the back section of the mosque where women and children pray.

Three worshippers were said to have been trapped in the ruins and were injured in the accident.

The fallen vehicle had blocked part of the ever busy Biba Road, close to Babangida Market.

It was said that the incident occured when the driver of the trailer was negotiating a narrow part of the road blocked by a heap of sand being used for the construction of new shops.

Baba Maiunguwa, a resident, said three people had been taken to Suleja General Hospital for treatment.

He said, ”Three people have been taken away to hospital including a child. There was no death.

“We are lucky that, people have left the Mosque after prayer. It would have been bad because the Mosque was filled up during the prayer”.
