The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, on Sunday escaped death when his convoy had an accident while leaving Osogbo, the state capital.

Sources said no fewer than four security operatives attached to him were injured during the accident.

It was gathered that faulty tyre caused the accident as the first layer of one of the tyre removed on the motion.

A source said, “The vehicle hit that of speaker, but he is safe. However, four of the security men were injured; they have been taken to a private hospital around the Oke-Baale area of Osogbo where they are receiving treatment.”

When contacted, the spokesperson of the speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, confirmed the accident, saying, “It occurred when the speaker was going out of the Osogbo. Two of the security operatives have been discharged.”
